A crushingly large blue root beer barrel crowns this Houston institution, which makes you think, rightfully, that you can get burgers and root beer floats here. But that's only half the story - the Lucky Burger serves up comforting grease on two fronts: American and Chinese. The burgers ($3.39) have been winning city awards for years, the fish burger is crisped to perfection, and the rich root beer float comes with free refills...but it's the Chinese items on the menu (egg rolls for 1.49 and excellent shrimp fried rice) that make an uneasy, wonderful match for the menu's more well-advertised milkshakes and floats.
