Oh my gosh! Joe, I think you’ve become my new favorite best friend that I don’t actually know.

They make a minced meat roll called Cevapcici (chevapchichi) that are amazing as well

I had this today. Half a pound of pig fat in my stomach right now. Not sure what’s going to happen.
What a find!

WHAT:
Jumeri
HOW MUCH:
$3.36
WHERE:
Muncan Food Corp.
Astoria, NY
All the recent swine flu hysteria has me jonesing for pork products. So I was quite glad to stumble across the original location of Romanian butcher Muncan Food Corp. Muncan offers all manner of charcuterie, including a crazy good lamb pastrami, but my favorite item there is the jumeri (say "ZHOO-mar"), or pork cracklings. A full pound costs $6, so are they really a 3 Buck Bite? I say yes, largely because the American Heart Association has banned the purchase of a full pound. OK fine they haven't, but maybe they should. For a little over three bucks I scored .38 pounds of this porcine goodness, which was scooped into a paper bag that soon developed many transparent grease stains. The morsel of fried pork belly that you see me holding aloft was salty, crunchy, fatty, and supremely porky. Just the thing to make me forget all about swine flu.
