One of the greatest tragedies in food is that Cook Out only exists in North Carolina. I got hooked on this greasy drive-thru only eatery when I lived in the Tar Heel State for a summer, especially their amazing BBQ sandwich. Yes, you can get better pulled pork in the South, but can you get it for so cheap? Probably not. Cook Out serves their pulled pork Carolina style, with a vinegar-based sauce and cole slaw piled on top and enclosed with a squishy bun. BBQ is only a small part of the massive Cook Out menu, which also includes thick and creamy shakes, chicken strips, ribs, hush puppies, onion rings, chili cheese fries, chili cheese dogs and hamburgers.
