I agree that Prosperity has Tasty Dumpling beat pound for pound, but I do make repeat visits to Tasty Dumpling when I want fried dumplings with a bit more heft to them. If you like crunchy, crusty foods, Tasty Dumpling does the trick done without exceeding its limits (unlike Vanessa’s, where the thick skin separates completely from the pork meatball inside).

There are a lot of cheap dumpling joints in Chinatown but Tasty Dumpling just might be the best. Get them fried (not steamed) for a crispy skin that provides a perfect foil to the tantalizingly tangy, juicy innards made of pork and chives. If you want to save even more money, spring for a bag of 50 frozen dumplings for only $8.

Been to this place and it’s got nothing on Prosperity Dumpling on Eldridge street. They are 5 for $1 and they are always fresh. I’ve been to Tasty 3 times and their dumplings have always been sitting around for a few hours. Walk the extra few blocks to Prosperity. It’s worth it.
