The cheeseburger at one of L.A.'s most beloved taco stands is delicioso. Salty and old-school, with thick strands of lettuce on top of melted, American cheese (can't you just taste elementary school?), and the perfect amount of sweet ketchup jumping out 'atcha with a smaller serving of mayo mixed in--these patties are amazing. And they’re the perfect size--dainty enough to warrant a mulligan if you're American, or for noshing on their own if you’re into Euro-sized portions. Sometimes, little flecks of the schoolhouse-rock cheese are pressed into the top of the bun ... Delightful! And if you go to this Hillhurst shack with a hole in your stomach, the tamales ($2.00 each) aren't too shabby, either.
