Here’s one thing you don’t often get with a meal that costs $3.99 or less: a smile with a side of pleasant conversation. But that’s exactly what’s on order at the dumpling spot, Eton, in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens. The owner, Eton Chan (a former Asiate chef), mans the register, answers the phone and helpfully mixes up dipping sauces after learning your preferences. He also dishes out tasty dumplings for just $3.50 for five--choose from pork and beef with cabbage, chicken with mushroom (my personal favorite) and vegetable with tofu. There’s also usually a special dumpling of the day.
